A lads prayer by Duke Kamanda
I wished to die young,
With my life still colourful
And hair nightly black.
I wished to go out peacefully,
With no huge student loans
Or pressure to marry from the church.
I wished to go out silently,
With no trauma
Or screaming scars that never heal
I wished to go out young
With my star still shining
And my flame still a blaze
I wished for the sun to be up,
And the rays to blind my eyes
As my soul finally lets go.
Maybe a little breeze can come in handy,
Swaying your screams into the horizon
Far from me, just as you were.
I wished to die young,
To cut short the misery and pain
And save me from sitting on a folding chair in my eighties
Reminiscing of heart-breaking memories.
However, the thought of adventure in all those moments made me remain alive.
